Staff Picks of Top Attractions in Portugal

1. Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, Lisbon

To be completely honest, all of Lisbon is worth a visit! From the old neighborhood of the Alfama to the São Jorge Castle, which offers the best views of Lisbon, the Portugal capital is worth a detour. However, our top pick for Lisbon is the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, a church and monastery located on the outskirts of the Portuguese capital. It is a breathtaking building with gorgeous Manueline architecture.

2. Torre de Clérigos, Porto

Just like Lisbon, Porto deserves a couple of days of visiting! Located in the Northwest of the country, this coastal town is home to Porto wine. With many sights and attractions, our favourite is the Torre de Clérigos, a baroque church with a distinctive tower that can be seen across town.

3. Lamego, Douro Valley

The Douro Valley, a Unesco World Heritage site, is an enchanted region sprawling across northern Portugal and Spain. Famous for its high quality wines, it is a traveller’s favourite. Stop in Lamego and enjoy the local sparkling wine, or any of the many wine tours!

4. Ponta da Piedade, Lagos

We kept the best for last – the beautiful Ponta da Piedade in Lagos. Located in the famous southern region of Portugal, the Algarve, Ponta da Piedade is a group of rock formations along the shores of Lagos. Take a boat trip through the rock formations or stay on land and explore the site from the towering cliffs by taking one of the many coastal paths.
