If you’re looking to explore the city without having to wear a heavy winter coat, the best time to visit Montreal is between Mid-May up until the end of October. If you’re hoping to see the city in its full on Winter Wonderland glory, the Holidays are a great time to visit between December and February. You can get some skiing in, and sip on hot chocolate. Just make sure to bundle up, with a good pair of warm boots!
Depending where you’re arriving from, there are many ways to get to Montreal. The most affordable way is taking the bus or train. In the summer, there’s plenty to do and see. Some of the bigger events include the Jazz Fest, Francos de Montréal, Comiccon, Just for Laughs, Osheaga, ÎleSoniq and Montreal Pride, but there are a ton more! You can find a complete list here.
In the winter months, one of the city resident’s favourites include: The Montreal Christmas village, Igloofest, Montréal en lumière, Le Festival des neiges, Luminothérapie, amongst many more!
Don’t forget about apple picking in the fall and the many sugar shacks to visit in the spring!
Your first stop – poutine! (A must-try in our opinion)
A classic French Canadian staple – what’s better than fries covered in cheese curds and gravy? Newcomers should visit La Banquise, but locals know that one of the best places to have one is Chez Claudette. What’s great about the food scene in Montreal is that even though other provinces may have a little more variety, the many options available in this city are always top notch. You’ll find something special for every taste bud.
Montreal has 4 distinct seasons – and each one is beautiful in its own way. Depending on the season, you can find some amazing spots to capture spectacular photos from all over the city.
A few places to snap the best pictures are: Square Saint-Louis, Notre-Dame Basilica of Montréal, Hotel Place D’Armes, Cafe Olimpico, La Grande Roue, Bar George, Outremont Fountain, among many many others!
