Aside from being the place where the highest number of athletes flock  to do the IRONMAN 70.3, Zell am See is one of Austria’s best known touristic destination. Hiking in Zell am See Mountain

Probably the unavoidable activity of Zell am See is hiking. You should definitely download the mountain’s app that contains all relevant information including all the paths you can take. You can even take the maps offline so you’ll never get lost. They offer suggestions on summer or winter routes and pinpoint the main attractions you can get to. It’s critical that you plan your journey ahead and use this app. When you go into such a big mountain as Zell am See safety is primordial.

High intensity and high elevation paths are available. From a few hundred meters to 15 km you can spend half a day or a full day on the tracks. Who knows, maybe it’s going to be your first training for completing a Red Bull X-Apls race!

Skiing in Zell am See and the Schmittenhöhe

With more than 138km of skiable slopes, you can have a pretty nice day in Zell am See. Skiing at Zell am See should be on your bucket list if it’s not already. They are open all-year long so you don’t have any excuses!

Get free classes with pros in Zell am See

Every monday from November to May, sports fan aged 13 and up can come and ‘freeride’. Pros will demonstrate some advanced techniques and you can even follow them off-piste for a unique experience in the white powder of the alps. Just check out this page for all the details.

Parks and Pipes in Zell am See – Kaprun

With such a gigantic ski resort, there’s plenty of space for crazy parks and pipes if you’re a little more dare-devil. There are 3 parks and one of them includes a 160m long and 6m half-pipe. Some olympic athletes train there but nothing to keep you from showing off your skills too!

Apres Ski in Zell am See

What is a ski day without an apres ski? Tradition in Europe and many other places, you definitely should go grab a (warm) drink. You essentialy have two options, either you go with the popular pubs like  “Pavillon”, “Lederhosn“, “Cabrio“, “Schnaps-Hans“,”Pinzgauer Diele” and “Crazy Daisy” or grab some wine in a rustic ski hut. There are even some that are located high in the mountains with breathtaking views. A quick search and you’ll find majestic venues.

Biking in Zell am See

It’s not your conventional bike ride. Whether you decide to hop on a mountain bike, a road bike or a e-bike and do a 2.5 or 67.9km ride, be warned it’s going to be at least a medium intensity physical activity. But the sightseeing spots are worth it. With a bike you’re sure to cover more distance quickly and see everything you should if you’re only in town for a few days. Again, everything is in the app!

Go see the Zell am See Lightshow

One of the best rated activities in Zell am See is go see the light show every Tuesday during the summer. A majestic performance with water, light, music and laser awaits you. It’s called the ‘Magic Lake Show’ and you don’t want to miss it. It starts at 10.00 PM from May to August and at 9.00 PM in September and October.
