Busbud supports Women Techmakers Montreal + Ladies Learning Code

For International Women’s Day, we take a step back to look at the amazing accomplishments by women from all walks of life to make our world a better place. It’s also a day to raise awareness for the current challenges that women face on a regular basis and strive to work together to resolve them in the future.

At Busbud, we’ve been proud to be involved in the Montreal startup ecosystem over the past few years in various capacities, from creating and participating in events, to inviting companies to our office, or sharing knowledge in the community. This has allowed us to improve our product, work processes and team culture. But we want to keep doing more to have a concrete impact.

Busbud becomes a Gold Sponsor for the Women Techmakers Event

The Women Techmakers Event in Montreal is a two-day conference that features amazing women from various technology industries in North America.

Women Techmakers is a program created by Google to celebrate International Women’s Day and to highlight the talent of women in technology. In 2017, we decided to organize the second edition in Montreal as part of the special event ‘The Women Techmakers Global Event Series Celebrating International Women’s Day’ (WTM IWD). This program has been in over 200 global events and seen across 52 countries. The main focus of this community-building initiative is to promote talented and passionate women, increase the visibility of the Montreal technology community and honour women in technology.

As a Gold Sponsor, Busbud will be present to support the event and to discuss our products, technology stack & company culture. If you’re attending the event on April 1st or 2nd, please pass by as Mike & Manon would love to meet you!

Busbud hosts a Ladies Learning Code workshop on March 21st

Founded in 2011, Ladies Learning Code is a non-profit organization that strives to empower women and youth to feel comfortable learning beginner-friendly technical skills in a social, collaborative way. We’ve hosted an LLC workshop at Busbud in 2014 and we’re excited to have them in the office again!

On March 21st, the awesome folks from Ladies Learning Code will bring a group of high school girls to our office (tickets are still available if you know someone who’d like to join!). They’ll get to meet members of our leadership and engineering teams, and learn about how to develop tech products and the journey to launch a new business.

Overall, we look forward to keep participating in our local tech community, and to make it more open, equal and inclusive.
