Bus from San Salvador, SV to Managua: Tickets & Timetables

Complaint about the bus trip The process of collecting money for Transito del Sol started at the office in San Salvador. First, I was told that my travel documents were in order and when I was about to board the bus, I was forced to fill out the Nicaraguan entry form again. Since the online form still didn’t work, the officer wanted to do it himself and it would cost $5. They had had 1.5 hours to deal with my case so far because I arrived well in advance. The collection process continued soon. The officer said that I should pay his colleague $24 for the border crossing. I refused and paid only $3 before Honduras because I knew that was the price of crossing the border. The officer put the money in his own pocket and I paid the new $3 or actually $4 to the border officer. At the passport control in Nicaragua, I paid $15 instead of $13 because I didn’t have enough one-dollar bills left after I gave them to the bus officer. I had to explain for 15 minutes that I wanted change. They tried to fool me by moving me from one booth to another and from one clerk to another, trying to pretend I didn't understand, etc. I finally got the change. Really annoying corruption.
