Travel the South African Way

In Africa, you can visit iconic destinations or discover game reserves that are off the beaten path. The most popular way to explore Africa’s diverse and vibrant locales is to travel by bus. Not only does the bus conveniently gets you around, it also lets you get a good eyeful of Africa’s best coast-to-coast landscapes. View our  Quintessential Guide to bus traveling in Africa to discover more travel tips.

From its stunning scenery to the incredible wildlife that populates its many national parks, South Africa should definitely be your next long haul destination!

We’ve just partnered up with an operator servicing South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique. This is our first major partnership on the African continent and we are working hard to expand our coverage to ensure a wide range of travel options for all Busbud users in the region!

Dating back to 1898, this is South Africa’s first national park, and is widely considered as one of the greatest in the world in terms of wildlife. All of Africa’s quintessential species – elephants, lions, cheetahs, rhinos, giraffes, hippos, zebras – can be seen in the premises of the Kruger National Park.

Explore this scenic route by taking a bus from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth to travel through one of the most popular stretches in the world.

The Winelands

Whether you are a wine lover or not, we strongly suggest visiting the Winelands outside of Cape Town. This wine-producing area is traversed by breathtaking mountain ranges, and of course, plenty of wineries that offer free wine tasting sessions. Make sure to taste the local Methode Cap Classique, a sparkling wine produced with the same method used for french Champagne.

Attend a Rugby test match
