Can I change or cancel a APM ticket?
Ticket change and cancellation policies vary by operator and fare type. On select APM routes, Busbud offers Refund for Any Reason add-on at checkout, which allows refunds up to 30 minutes before departure. Check refund eligibility at checkout.
How do I book a APM ticket?
You can book APM tickets directly on Busbud. Search your desired route, compare multiple schedules and prices that APM offers, select what works best for you, and complete your booking securely online or in the Busbud app.
When must you check-in after purchasing a ticket?
You must be at the departure point at least 30 minutes before the stated departure time. If you do not arrive in time, it can be difficult for you to board. Always make sure you are there in time.
Do I need any form of identification to board the bus?
Yes, to board an APM bus, you need to have a valid ticket as well as the corresponding identification. This could either be a drivers license, national ID or valid passport. This is important to remember if customers which to enjoy some of the special discounts offered by APM.
What is the policy with regards to children and Minors?
Children younger than the age of 3 are not charged when travelling on APM buses, however, they must travel with their parent or legal guardian. Children below the age of 12 may not be allowed to travel alone - they must always have a legal parent or guardian. Children older than 12 but below the age of 18 will only be allowed to travel on an APM bus if their parent or legal guardian has signed an indemnity form, provided the affidavit that proves valid consent from one of the parents/legal guardian if moving in or out of South Africa.
What do I do if I want to cancel my ticket and get a refund?
Our bus tickets can be refunded subject to the payment of a fee that is 25% if it is cancelled within 3 hours of the departure time. If a refund is not processed, a voucher is given, which must be used within 3 years. If you arrive within 1 hour after departure, you will get a penalty of 50%, and you can transfer the remaining amount for the next exit. If you arrive more than 1 hour late, unfortunately, you will get a penalty of 100%. All these tickets can be cancelled by calling 087 820 8111 and visiting the APM website for more information.
Is it possible for me to hop on or hop off during the trip?
You are not allowed to do so at any time throughout the trip. The journey must be made in a continuous stretch.
What luggage restrictions does APM have?
APM buses allow you to have 2 suitcases with a total weight of 20kg on local and 30kg on international trips. Any luggage that weighs more than this will be priced at a rate determined by APM Buses. Luggage containing firearms, narcotics, ammunition, hazardous or harmful chemicals, explosives, or toxic substances will not be accepted onto any APM bus. Electronic equipment, any sporting equipment and fluorescent signs must be properly packaged. The Consumption of alcohol and smoking is strictly prohibited.
How long in advance can I book my APM bus ticket?
We advise you to book your ticket well in advance to ensure you get the best price. Some of the ticket classes often sell out quickly which also means that a designated seat will then be assigned to you (as per availability). Ticket fares also tend to increase during the holidays and over the long weekends.
APM Special Discounts
APM buses are focused on providing affordable services to its customers and offer special discounts to children, students, senior citizens as well as discounts on return trips. The following specials/ discounts are:
Children (10%)
Only valid for children, 11 years and younger, and accompanied by an adult paying full fare.
The 10% discount is only valid on Classic and Classic Deluxe tickets.
Students (5%)
Only valid for students who are currently registered and able to show proof of registration by the provision of a valid student ID card. Students must be registered at a recognised tertiary institution.
Senior Citizens (10%)
Individuals must be 60 years and older to enjoy the 10% discount offered on Classic and Classic Deluxe tickets. ID is required upon purchasing tickets.
Return Trips (5%)
Customers booking return trips through APM buses can enjoy 5% discounts on the return leg of the ticket.
