Welcoming Drivers comfortable journey with comfy seats. Unfortunately bus arrived at destination 1 hour late due to roadworks
It began well, the issue was I wouldn't of expected especially when I was honestly couldn't believe how much of a luxury the bus was from the typical service bus. I'm impressed with the comfort and accessibility. Unfortunately the comfort level dropped when the rain started, it suddenly changed from relaxing comfortably to needing to use my coat to stop the shower of water that was coming over me due to what seemed a bust window seal that was allowing water to run in through the back corner which happened to be flowing in over both seats, I'd of moved but the bus was full so I couldn't it went on until the rain fully stoped for a solid hour at least
Arrived on time (approx ten minutes early to get all passengers on) superfriendly driver only negative feedback I can give is 2 passengers who decided all other passengers should listen to to their music as loud as possible
Passengers or a couple of families swearing badly including their kids and being rude to other passengers . Also taking up seats with luggage and being nasty when asked to remove them . All journey a nightmare.
The drivers were polite and helpful. The bus ran to time. However, it’s a long journey from Leeds to Scarborough and several passengers needed a toilet break, including a heavily pregnant woman and older passengers). Toilets at Malton were not available to passengers (locked at 6pm - in case of troublemakers). However there were enough staff on duty at Malton to have made it possible to open the toilets for passengers. We had a 20 min break whilst waiting for the next driver so there would have been plenty of time.
The space was generally ok - adequate rather than comfortable for a 3hr journey. I didn’t discover that there were tables upstairs until we got to Malton. Some indication when boarding the bus and buying the ticket from Leeds to Scarborough would have been helpful. Drop-down tables for downstairs seats would be useful for takeaway drinks cups, etc. I paid for WiFi but there was no information about how to join the network.
It might be helpful for Arriva to consider the timetable in terms of connections. The last bus from Leeds to Whitby was too early for me and, as a vulnerable woman, I had to wait almost 1 hr alone, and in the dark for the connection to Robin Hoods Bay.
I would use the service again.
Bus was on time &
well driven. Some passengers were disappointed to discover that toilets at Malton were out of action. We were not adversely affected this time
I enjoyed the journey but was worried that my bus coming home might be cancelled. Many other buses did not run and huge queues built up. I was with my 6-year-old granddaughter. I am unsure whether I'd risk the journey again if we find the bus we intended is not running. Having booked online and lost my concession as an old aged pensioner, do I have the advantage of being notified if a bus I have booked is cancelled?
Totally abysmal. Bus was booked for 12.23, by 12.50 it hadn't arrived. Rang Coastliner to ask why it hadn't arrived was told there was a delay of 1 hour 20 minutes. When that time had passed I rang again only to be told it was on the way, just delayed. I rang again when the 13.23 and the 14.23 had not arrived, each time was told it was a delay. We waited over 3 hours and no bus turned up, my husband has heart failure and diabetes, he needed medication and food by this time,
In total I rang 8 times the company was so unhelpful that I ended up ordering a cab that cost us £70.
I am totally disgusted.
On booking I wanted a return ticket and seemed impossible to do this, payment wise it seemed I had payed for return but nothing on the ticket or confirmation email to say
The cost for the journey is a bargain and great views. I had seen on line that it stated there was a toilet on the bus which I didnt think would be accurate but did expect the bus to stop at Malton for a comfort break but this did not happen. Therefore it would be sensible to update any online information for clarity and avoid incurring complaints if passengers genuinely expect facilities on board when using the service
Bus was a hour late, took way too long due to the A64 being jammed in one lane traffic, heating on in 26+ degrees, apperantly this happens a lot but no one seems to do anything about it.
The bus was an hour late, we understand that that was down to a traffic accident. But then the bus driver had no clue how to get to Whitby after the a64 got shut off. The passengers then had to direct the bus driver towards our location.
Waste of time booking g online as the drivers do not accept your tickets … tryed to tell me I had payed euros … so not only did it cost me 15.13 to prebook 2 seats but then I had to repay as the driver wasn’t intrested in even trying to look at my tickets would not recommend this service to anyone drivers are rude !!!
The only problem was an age problem. No toilet on bus quite a few passengers had the bus wait whilst they used toilets at Malton. The gents was out of order so I was unable to
The coastliner bus was over an hour late. Info stated we had seats booked but the driver said no seats are ever given. It was like getting a normal coach but not sure why we were charged to book as people just paid like a normal bus getting on and off. No toilet on board but again info said there would be one but no washing facilities so needed to take wipes!! Price was excellent though due to the government £2 offer per person
The Whitby coach broke down so they changed mine and my daughters coach to the Whitby one and we had to wait an extra hour and half. I had booked a week in advance to leave a 7:45 so I had a full day in Scarborough not acceptable.
Unbelievably terrible experience, i booked a ticket a week in advance and when the bus arrived it was full and didn’t let anyone on, there must’ve been 30 people waiting for it also, what a letdown
Pleasant helpful drivers and also helpful staff on hand at Leeds bus station. Great journey. Great service. I an staying with the bus . No more train for me!
