Viseu Bus Station (in portuguese, “Rodoviária de Viseu” or “Central de Camionagem de Viseu”) is one of the most spacious and essential bus stations in Portugal and the main access point to the city of Viseu. 

The station connects some of the main destinations in the country, such as Porto (127 km), Lisbon (290 km), Fátima (172 km), Faro (531 km) and Coimbra (91 km), as well as some cities in Spain, such as Madrid (437 km).

With around 15 companies operating at the site, around 2,000 passengers go through the station every day.

Located at Avenida Dr. António José de Almeida 242, the station is in the city's central region. A short 6-minute walk will get you to the city’s historic center, where you’ll find many hotels and restaurants. 

How to get to Viseu Bus Station

The station is located in the city center, so it is easy to get around on foot. But those who want to explore other areas of Viseu can also take public transportation, as the bus station has bus stops for intercity buses that connect the city through several lines. If you want an extra dose of comfort, it’s also easy to find taxis right outside the bus station.

Structure

The station offers free public restrooms for passengers and has a few shops, cafes and restaurants. There are also vending machines for drinks at any time of the day.

At some points of the station, you might be able to get free access to Wi-Fi, though it might demand some persistence.

Remodeling

By the end of 2022, the Viseu Bus Station will become the Viseu Mobility Operations Center (Centro de Operações de Mobilidade de Viseu). The site has been under construction since 2020, when investments were made to modernize the space and offer better services.

The renovation will promote the connection of intercity and international buses with the public transport system, taxis and bicycles. New parking spots will also be created for cars and bus parking will be expanded.
