The train was late. When we finally left Albany we were supposed to be at our hotel in New York city, set us back for our scheduled activities the next day - actually that day since we arrived at 2:00am.

Tracks were flooded just south of Beacon, so train was stopped. The worst part, though, was the lack of appropriate communication, leading to abandonment of the train by large numbers of people, including myself. The problem seems to be ultimately caused by a lack of investment in infrastructure. Amtrak communication is atrocious.
