So, the bus was late…because of me. EXCEPT I had received an email stating it was at 8 instead of 7, so as I arrived a couple minutes after 7 (I had gone to the terminal first, misunderstanding. It worked out that I was able to take my bus, but I still don’t understand why I got a email saying my bus was delayed when it wasn’t.
I started using Cuz Del Sur for my first overnight bus ride to Huaraz. I’ve booked them every time since. I like the safety measures. The checked baggage. The personal entertainment (if I bring my own headphones). I don’t mind that they’ve always been about an hour late arriving, because it has been an extra hour to sleep overnight.
we were at the VIP class but we didn't feel really comfortable with our seat. it was difficult to sleep because it was not comfortable to lay the head on the chair and there wasn't a comfortable place for the legs.
I am really impressed with the level of professionalism throughout the entire company, the staff, their system and particularly their overall safety measures. It made me feel comfortable to see the drivers obey the speed regulations at all times and driving responsibly. Have been in other buses where the driver is reckless and dangerous. Not the case at all in any of the 4 inter province trips i have taken with Cruz del Sur. Thats why I continue to choose them for my travel needs. They have showed me they truly care for their passengers and that is of great value to me.
Some alarm of the bus system startet after an hour and nobody was able to stop it. So we had to sit below a very loud alarm signal and a red flashing light for more than 8 hours.
It was an absolute nightmare!
Bus was great, but getting info at the terminal was difficult as nobody spoke English and was unwilling to explain to me that after I picked up the ticket, I had to pay 1,5 soles for something I don’t even know what for and which bus I should board- the info on the ticket didn’t help me at all.
The only reason why I managed to get to the right bus in time was because of a young man who graciously followed me all the way. The others just waved me away- it was stressful and I eventually became desperate. Luckily one man out of the 10 staff members I asked helped me. I’m not sure I would recommend any foreigners to take the bus.
Haven't used other bus companies in Peru so can't compare, but very disappointed with Exclusiva. The staff in Cusco station were very rude, the bus had no wifi, it was ridiculously cold the whole 10 hours, and the stale bread and crackers they served as a meal don't even deserve to be described as 'food'. I visit 10-15 countries a year and it's literally the worst 'food' offering i've ever received on transport. Nothing impressive about this company.
It was literally so hot the entire time. Several passengers asked the attended to turn the aircon to a lower temperature or to control the heating underneath the seats. She didn’t listen and the entire bus was sweating for nearly 12 hours straight.
Cruz del Sur is one of the best and most comfortable buses I've gone with. On demand movies, clean, big comfortable seats, pillow + blanket and snacks. 2 h late to Arequipa though. No info in English. But a very good choice in Peru!
It was pretty cold down the back of the bus compared to the front (on the 1st floor). Although it was great to be able to put the seats back, the one in front of me went back so far I couldn't move my legs much at all. The girl I'm front of my partner on numerous occasions kept ramming her chair back and hitting his knees.
The journey was not confortable due to several points:
-the common TV turned on with high volume during the night
-tried to call the staff with dedicated button (to revolve the point above) and nobody came. After a while, someone (the driver or the staff) de-abilitated the dedicated button to not get distrubed!!!
-several damages on the sit
-toilet completely dirty and stinking
