Bus was 30 minutes late leaving and broke down about 15 minutes after departure. Another bus had to be brought in.
Very clean bus, nice staff. Something odd about the 'breakfast': we woke up at 06.30u and the bus-guy said we missed breakfast. Sounds a bit too early for breakfast on a bus that arrives at the final destination at 13.30h.
The counter agents couldn’t speak English. Had no way of helping us. Once the bus got to Mendoza the sign on the front was wrong but the driver just said get in, yes it’s going to San Rafael. The seats and the whole bus were very dirty. No announcements were made to say what stops we were at. The guy that got our luggage out was rude and demanded a tip in cash. Pretended he couldn’t speak any English to get our bags but when he did he had no problem saying, in English “I take cash for tips”.
The bus was quite old and dirty but the Cama seats were comfortable on the lower deck. The AC was loud and at times freezing cold fortunately we were prepared for this. The video sound control above our seats did not work but we managed to change seats to escape the noise.Overall our experience was much the same as other buses we have used in South America but we arrived at our destination safely and would probably travel with Cata again
The trip was fine. The server was polite as was the bus driver.
The dinner served as just ok but not great. No wine was served which was surprising as we had it on another bus trip last week. The bus was older and the seats were not comfortable for sleeping. No pillow or blanket was provided.
No Toilet paper. Waste paper got filled quickly but was not cleared so paper accumulated on floor.
Waste bottles, newspapers, etc had not been cleaned prior to us getting on board.
Everything was fine, the service staff was excellent and hard working. Too many stops for my liking in the middle of the night and the TV should be turned off at 10pm so we could get rest, hardly got any sleep.
Bus is clean and in good condition. Staff at terminals and on bus do not speak English, so was a struggle throughout. Was lucky a fellow passenger helped me understand what was going on. No wifi though listed in price.
Very clean and comfortable bus, except that several passengers, including myself, complained that the seat backs’ reclining feature did not work.
I would like to give the driver a 5 star rating. He was excellent!
The bus ride was fabulous. The seats are very comfy with USB ports and a tv. Food was served, which was an unexpected plus. Also, the staff was very friendly and professional.
The bus took 41/2 hours than scheduled. No information or reason was given to us - we lost half a day in Bariloche which we had planned to use to book trips for our time in bariloche
Everything was fine! Until I realised when I arrived at my hostel that stuff was taken from my backpack. A speaker, a deck of cards and a piece of my hiking poles for christ sake. It must have happend at the border control or something. But I don’t like it one bit.
Bus ride was nice and calm with a beautiful view. Arrived a little early in Mendoza which was great! Food provided is not the best but that’s okay, just bring your own snacks. Overall really good experience.
Bus was almost 3 hours late. A window broke on the journey, and we had to travel through the night with a damaged bus. Couldn't sleep. Because of the lateness, I missed a very important meeting
The staff had no English at all, therefore all instructions for border etc we could not understand. I know we are visiting the country and should have basic Spanish but we dont. When trying to communicate staff were vacant. The bus didnt actually take us to valparaiso. As I couldn't understand the language I'm not 100% sure why but can only assume it was due to the protests. This was unacceptable. We paid to be taken to Valparaiso and if the bus couldn't get there they should have arranged for us to have further transport to where we were supposed to be going.
Busbud is a bus search tool - we include CATA Internacional routes, schedules and prices in our searches along with many other bus companies. You can compare prices, amenities and times by searching for a route. If you find a suitable trip, you can go ahead and get your CATA Internacional ticket from us. Note that buses sell out, CATA Internacional and other operators generally charge a lot more for last minute tickets or for tickets bought in person.
