No very punctual with time keeping. Bus was ok generally. Lots of food sellers entering the bus at every opportunity. Little bit of an overkill seeing as the bus was only meant to take 4hrs.
Delays due to protest not unitansco fault but no effort to make up time and actual travelling time far longer than advertised schedule. Currently still on bus in barranquilla 9.5 hours after leaving cartagena, hoping to arrive at santa marta before midnight!
The bus company i brought the ticket for wasn't there. I had to buy another ticket for a different bus company - exactly the same departure and arrival times.
Worst transportation company ever. No one speaks English. Our bus from Cartagena to Santa Marta (tickets 30€) scheduled on 2pm was delayed by 3 hours without any notice, not even simple email was sent. We paid for tickets on bus that was supposed to leave at 2pm, and it should take 4 hours to reach Santa Marta. In really we got different seats as we reserved and paid for, our bus left Cartagena 20 minutes after 5pm, and it took 6 hours to get to Santa Marta. Total disaster, this bus stopped in almost every village and waited for another 10-15 minutes per every single stop. So in the end, journey that should take 4 hours, instead it cost us 8,5 hours - lost whole day and this company was not even able to apologize.
The staff wasn’t friendly. The driving was horrible. There were insects coming out of the side of the window. They were also very slow, and took us approximately two hours longer to arrive.
If the driver of one bus has been driving for too long, the moment the bus gets to one of the stops, the next driver should be ready to avoid making passengers wait for almost an hour
Really unclean, bus driver kept stopping for people to sell us stuff, overall very disappointing. We arrived over two hours late without any traffic, ridiculous
The bus was 2hrs15 LATE! It arrived at 19.15 instead of 17.00. The conductor was unable to give me an answer each time I asked ‘how much delay do we have?’. Staff was rude. I will not use nor recommend Unitransco to anyone!
The absolute worse experience on a bus I've ever had. the bus was on schedule until the bus driver decided to stop and literally buy fruit and hang out with his friends. Seriously, he stopped the bus and hung out with his friends for 30 minutes. i had a flight to catch and missed it by 30 minutes after timing it out to be 2 hours early. Spend the extra money and fly.
The bus driver stopped in Barranquilla Amand had lunch there for about an hour. Then he proceeded to fill up at the gas station and stayed there for about 30 minutes more in order to talk to some friends and eat, again. Meanwhile there was no communication about the delay whatsoever. Traffic had gotten a lot worse in the meantime so it took us another hour to get out of the city. What was supposed to be a 4-5 hour trip took 8,5 hours in the end. Traveling with this bus company was way, way worse than with the comfortable other companies.
We booked the 8.45 bus but they said that it had "technical" problems (after asking 3 times) so we had to wait for the next bus which was 3 hours later. That bus didn't leave on time and didn't arrive on time. Some of the delay was not the company's fault because there appeared to have been an accident which caused us to barely move for 2 hours. However, at every stop we had to wait a long time and people would get in and out and it was messy. In the end, where our plan was to leave Cartagena at 8.45 and arrive in Palomino at 16.00, we were on time at the bus station at 8.30 and 6 hours late in Palomino (we arrived at 22.00 at our hostel).
The bus conductor fell asleep and consequently the bus drove straight past the town that we were due to stop at - Buritaca. There were no announcements as to where we were at any given time or indeed whether we were supposed to inform the conductor as to where we wanted to be dropped off. Our ticket did of course have our destination clearly printed on it and the conductor had checked these tickets when we got on the bus. Despite having fallen asleep and the conductor wasn't apologetic in the slightest and spoke no English whatsoever. By the time we had managed to communicate the fact that the bus had failed to stop we were more than 12 miles away from where we should have been dropped off and we were told that our only option was to disembark and make our own way back. With all our bags we were forced to pay for two motorbike taxis to take us back to our hotel. This was a case of total incompetentence and resulted in needless expense on our part.
The road is one of the worst I have been on in any place on earth. I was sick for the whole day after getting off the bus. The driver sometimes dangerously overtook other vehicles, particularly trucks. A terrible experience.
The service at the terminal was awful. The bus was dirty and smelly. The driver allowed sellers from the street to hop on the bus to sell things and also passangers that did not have a ticket to ride for free. The bus left late and arrived to our destination 1 hour and 15 min later than schedule. Overall, extremelly bad service
Booking the tickets was easy enough but the staff were pretty cold. I suppose by now I should not expect any bus in Central America to be on time, but 2.5hrs later and being required to switch busses and wait throws off our plans for the rest of the day. Simply have more honest scheduling so passengers can plan accordingly :)
I personally thought the whole journey was very nice. There was snacks and drinks offered and a break half way to stretch your legs and get refreshments at another bus teminal.
The bus was late by a couple of hours but expected that by reading other reviews. But being as comfortable as I was it didn't seem to matter much.
It was a cheap and easy way to get to cartagena from Santa Marta.
Thanks Mr Bus driver
Turned up to the desk and our bus wasn’t available so we had to go with a different bus company, our journey went from expected time of 4 hours to it taking just over 5 hours.
Impossible to sleep, occasional sellers coming in and out, shouting their products, loud movie (no headphones), the bathroom was blocked by a reclining seats (had to wake up a passenger to use it), multiple long stops, honking, heavy braking, almost no space for the overhead compartment (about 40cm tall, NOTHING fits). Never riding on a UNITRANSCO again.
Unsafe driving, the ride was supposed to take 4hours, instead it took 8!!
many very long stops, zero communications to the guests about stops and possibility to take breaks and go to bathroom. So far the worst experience on bus in all central/south america
The bus leave really late around 1 hour and 20 min. At the first stop, they transfer me to another bus. Luckily for me, it was a better bus because they have wifi and they give snacks and drinks. And I arrive in Santa Marta around 9pm, which was 3 hours late from schedule.
