firstly they only exchanged one ticket of the two tickets i wanted to change dates for. so i had to pay for a third ticket. the driver was extremely rude to everyone on the bus, then the driver tried to leave us behind in the middle of nowhere at a customs checkpoint and told the officials that we didn’t have a visa. this was not true and there was no reason for him to say this. he wanted to drive away before we could explain and we had to beg the officials to stop him from driving away so we could join him.
Enjoyed that the bus was on time. However the driver played very loud music all night, which seems inappropriate for a night bus where people are trying to sleep.
The first part was perfect, however when we arrived in Tuxtla Guiteres we had to change busses. First we waited an hour with a group of people without any notice on when w bus would arrive and when it did they said there were not enough spaces for everyone and 2 people had to wait 1,5 hours. After a discussion we had to sit in an overfilled bus as we insisted on going with everyone.
Tv was too loud and was throughout the entire 11 hours. No break. Headaches! Fan or ac dudnt work well, was too hot. Uncomfortable chairs.
Good - the toilet were in good shape
I liked the seats. They were comfortable and spacious. I did not like the movie entertainment. It was way too loud and disrupted my sleep. It would be better if the sound to the movie was optional.
Overall, I think the service and staff are excellent. The only thing I really dislike are the videos. They are not only much too loud and the content is not suitable for children. Loud, violent movies are not condusive to a peaceful, relaxing long trip.
Please no violent films, that was absolute horror for me and I think for all reasonable people and especially children. There is enough violence in this world. Please send peaceful energy into your buses!
When we arrived at OCC San Cristobal we were waiting for the bus and were eventually informed that we would have to take a bus to Tuxtla first and then get on another bus to Chetumal there. They said this was due to road blocks however this made no sense as other buses were able to depart/arrive. When we got to Tuxla no OCC staff member could tell us which bus we were supposed to get on. We stood waiting for approx 40 minutes before being told what bus to get on. The staff also couldn’t understand why my ticket said San Cristóbal to Chetumal when I was in Tuxla so they obviously hadn’t been informed that we had come to Tuxtla to get the Chetumal bus. Due to this our departure was delayed. The bus then proceeded to play movies and music out loud for hours which was awful. There was no charging sockets either for a 14 hour bus. Will be using ADO only in future.
Honestly terrible. It took eleven hours rather than six. Broken chair in front. And played constantly very loud and inappropriate films (one about death row, one planet of the apes style with lots of shrieking screaming and guns.) couldn’t have a moment to think
Loud music & TV on a night bus wasn’t appreciated when everyone was trying to sleep. Mexican Border officials stopped the bus & came on board 3 times to inspect ID’s making people feel uncomfortable.
It is absolutely unacceptable that the drivers play loud music throughout a night journey. Everyone is trying to sleep. I asked him to turn it down but he wouldn’t. We pay good money and for our ticket. This is unacceptable.
Driver was very slow and not very apologetic to others needs. He would stop several times and be on his phone. Another guest had to ask him to start driving.
The first bus driver (there were two drivers for the trip) had the music at the front of the bus so loud for the entire time he was driving (from 9.30pm departure to around 3am the next morning when he swapped). I asked him to turn the music down but he refused and his music blared for several hours. It was a night bus so I was trying to get some sleep and couldn’t because of his music.
From start to finish the journey was a nightmare. The driver took unnecessary risks and numerous times could have caused a collision. Additionally six hours into the trip the driver got off the bus and preceded to remove rocks which were in the road to the side of the road with the help of another driver - this sparked concerns as this should be a normal bus route but it quickly became evident that it wasn't.
At 7am the bus reached a destination which I thought was mine as the arrival time was due to 07.20am. However, after referring to Google Maps the stop was Santa Maria - the bus should not have stopped here clearly as this is 8 hours from San Cristobal. Also Santa Maria is only 5 hours from Oaxaca so why did it take the driver 12 hours to get there? Also the driver then said that he needed to refuel the bus - again clearly the bus didn't take the correct route otherwise it wouldn't have needed refuelling. For some reason the driver ordered us off the bus whilst this took place. Why did passengers have to disembark the bus for this to happen? Why did he refuse to give us our luggage? He left with our luggage on board which is totally unacceptable and one which caused further angst.
When we finally got on the correct road to San Cristobal the driver announced at 9.45am that the road had been blocked off that morning for protests and we would have to stop for at least 6-8 hours. Now if the bus had gone in the route it should have we would have missed this protest. At 4pm we finally were able to leave. At Tuxtla the bus stopped again. And we were told to get off the bus and onto a minibus to our final destination arriving at 8.30pm. Almost 26 hours late.
I shall be undertaking legal advice due to many aspects of this trip which may eventually lead to court proceedings against OCC for the following reasons:
1) timetable wasn't followed.
2) the trip took 26 hours instead of 12 - a lack of adequate food and drink supplies also.
3) no communication from the driver on why additional destinations were included.
4) driver refused to give luggage back when ordering everyone off the bus - thus leaving passengers stressed.
The driver went way too fast. I was trying to sleep but I was being thrown around my seat as the driver took the corners way too fast. The driver going to fast was validated as we arrived 1 hour ahead of Schedule
