The absolute worse experience on a bus I've ever had. the bus was on schedule until the bus driver decided to stop and literally buy fruit and hang out with his friends. Seriously, he stopped the bus and hung out with his friends for 30 minutes. i had a flight to catch and missed it by 30 minutes after timing it out to be 2 hours early. Spend the extra money and fly.
It was freezing cold in the bus and even when we asked to turn down the air condition nothing changed. Also the bus left us at some gas station a few km away from Santa Marta and we didn’t know about it before. We had to take a taxi from there and pay it ourselves.
We left Cartagena with 20 min late whereas everything seems to be ready.
After 45 min of bus, we stopped at Clemencia, because apparently some strikes were going there. We stayed there 3 hours with absolutely no explanation from the staff or the bus driver at any time.
Finally, after we started again, our bus stopped twice at Baranquilla and for a long time (30 min)... why twice ?? and why for such à long time ?? Again, no explanation.
We finally arrived at Santa Marta with 4 hours late compared to what was previously planned.
The bus was excellent, very comfortable. The agents from this company directing people traffic were not very friendly. They were short and not very welcoming or helpful. The transportation however was excellent. Don't forget a sweater as the bus is kept cool.
The service at the terminal was awful. The bus was dirty and smelly. The driver allowed sellers from the street to hop on the bus to sell things and also passangers that did not have a ticket to ride for free. The bus left late and arrived to our destination 1 hour and 15 min later than schedule. Overall, extremelly bad service
We wrote an email that we wanted to cancel our bus ride and change them for other tickets (we used the email address that was indicated at the bus tickets). We never received a reply, which is not really professional. We even added a sentence in Spanish saying that if they did not understand the email, we could translate it into Spanish.
Booking the tickets was easy enough but the staff were pretty cold. I suppose by now I should not expect any bus in Central America to be on time, but 2.5hrs later and being required to switch busses and wait throws off our plans for the rest of the day. Simply have more honest scheduling so passengers can plan accordingly :)
Impossible to sleep, occasional sellers coming in and out, shouting their products, loud movie (no headphones), the bathroom was blocked by a reclining seats (had to wake up a passenger to use it), multiple long stops, honking, heavy braking, almost no space for the overhead compartment (about 40cm tall, NOTHING fits). Never riding on a UNITRANSCO again.
Unsafe driving, the ride was supposed to take 4hours, instead it took 8!!
many very long stops, zero communications to the guests about stops and possibility to take breaks and go to bathroom. So far the worst experience on bus in all central/south america
The bus leave really late around 1 hour and 20 min. At the first stop, they transfer me to another bus. Luckily for me, it was a better bus because they have wifi and they give snacks and drinks. And I arrive in Santa Marta around 9pm, which was 3 hours late from schedule.
