Bus Tickets from Toronto to Montréal-Trudeau International Airport

The train is quite comfortable and clean. A bit cold. Sometimes it has delays but they compensate.

Dear Customer Relations, I am writing regarding a trip involving two passengers travelling under the same booking from Guildwood, ON to Montreal Central Station on May 29, 2026. Our original itinerary was: * Train 52: Guildwood → Ottawa * Train 26: Ottawa → Montreal Central Station * Scheduled arrival in Montreal: 4:15 PM Unfortunately, the trip was severely disrupted due to a mechanical failure affecting Train 52. Throughout the morning, passengers received multiple and conflicting departure updates. Departure times were repeatedly changed, making it impossible to plan accordingly or leave the station area with confidence. At one point, passengers were advised that the train would arrive significantly later, only for the train to arrive earlier than the most recent estimate. Due to the mechanical failure, Train 52 arrived in Ottawa at approximately 3:16 PM instead of the scheduled 1:32 PM. As a direct result, we missed our confirmed connection on Train 26 to Montreal. Upon arrival in Ottawa, VIA Rail staff advised us that the only available options were: * Bus transportation to Montreal the same day; or * Rail transportation the following day. When I asked whether VIA Rail would provide hotel accommodation if we waited until the following day for rail transportation, I was informed that accommodation would be our responsibility and that VIA Rail would not cover those costs. As a result, we had no practical choice but to accept bus transportation. This is a major concern because we purchased VIA Rail Comfort train service for our entire journey. A significant portion of the rail service we purchased was not provided and was replaced by bus transportation due to VIA Rail’s mechanical failure. The replacement bus itself also experienced technical issues during the journey. The bus made an unscheduled stop because of a problem involving an emergency exit window. The issue could not be fully repaired, and the emergency exit window was secured using plastic zip ties. I have photographs documenting this incident. The replacement bus also provided a lower level of comfort than the rail service that had been purchased. Our bus departed Ottawa at approximately 3:45 PM and arrived in Montreal at approximately 6:42 PM. As a result, we arrived 2 hours and 27 minutes later than the scheduled arrival time of 4:15 PM. In addition, throughout the disruption we repeatedly had to seek information ourselves from customer service representatives, station staff, and onboard personnel regarding our onward travel arrangements. Clear information was not proactively provided to passengers whose connections had been disrupted. Upon arrival at Montreal Central Station, we attempted to discuss the matter in person. We were informed that no customer service representative was available to assist and were simply provided with Customer Relations contact information. Given the circumstances, we respectfully request appropriate compensation for both passengers. This request is based not only on the delay itself, but also on: * The mechanical failure affecting Train 52; * The loss of our confirmed connection; * The replacement of purchased rail transportation with bus transportation; * The significantly reduced level of service compared with the Comfort rail service purchased; * The 2 hour and 27 minute delay to our final destination; * The disruption to our travel plans; * The lack of clear and consistent communication throughout the day. We would appreciate a review of this matter and look forward to your response.

I have some mobility problems, and several employees approached me and assisted me to use an elevator, load my luggage, and also to get my luggage out at the end and take them up the escalator to me. Everyone on the train was pleasant and helpful.
