This was my first experience with Eldo and it was an absolutely horrible experience, which I have also put onto social media, as well as Hello Peter.
To begin with, I was waiting at my allocated waiting point and the bus didn't arrive. I saw another Eldo bus that was going to Park Station and he said I could jump on to get my bus there hopefully, this was after trying numerous times to get a hold of Eldo on their various numbers, with no response.
Upon getting to Park Station, amidst worry that I may have missed my bus, I find the bus and there was no explanation or communication regarding what was going on, more so, there was no indication of the bus ever planning to go past the stop I was told to get the bus at, this was already disappointing. I was told to get onto the bus, and was made to wait for a further hour, without any explanation as to why. From here on, I will number the incidences which I felt should not have happened at all:
1. There was a drunk male who was knowingly let on the bus.
2. Drunk male went on to abuse the female passenger he was sitting next to.
3. Drunk male was allowed to continue his ride.
4. Drunk male had to be restrained by driver, who was supposed to be resting for his shift, but now has to babysit drunk male, compromising our trip and putting all our lives at risk on his shift as we will be driven by an unrested driver.
5. Bus drivers let people on the bus with alcohol they just purchased at a stop, they all saw and witnessed this, and made an announcement to that effect.
6. People were thus drinking on the bus, and as such everyone was loud and shouting across the bus and generally being unruly, through the night and early hours of the morning, when people should be sleeping, this including little children and babies, that were now crying and screaming as they were very uncomfortable.
7. Passengers sitting just behind the driver spilt their drink which reached the driver. After a long back and forth, the driver requested that they get him a cooldrink. The one passenger initially refused and the driver stopped the whole bus just so he could assert his power and confirm that he would be getting his cooldrink, what a gross abuse of power, at the expense of all the passengers.
8. After leaving a certain garage for our stop, the bus started slowing down after a while (which I had attributed to possible traffic in front of the bus), until the bus went to a complete stop, at which point the driver just went outside. After some time, we started wondering what the issue was, as nothing was communicated to us. Upon further investigation, we find out that the bus was overheating as the engine didn't have any water in it. We were further made aware that at the garage where we had previously stopped, the driver was meant to put in water, but apparently went to smoke some weed.
All in all this was an absolutely horrible trip and I would never recommend Eldo as a bus of choice.
Comfortable travel but horrible time management and communication skills in terms of the busses arrival time and overall communication between waiting passengers and delayed systems or drivers
Very disappointed at the service I was supposed to leave jhb at 17:20 the bus only picked me up an hour abs a half later to spend more time waiting at Park station only left jhb at 21:15 and no communication was had about the reason of the delay only received a message after the bus had left the station. Very disappointing
I don't like that the bus was late, it always happens to me when i have to take it. Drivers are rude and don't inform properly on destination when we get to certain areas. But the driving was excellent n we were safe.
This bus is a nonsense shem, I will never again. The charging ports were not working, the bus was filthy, we were not seated according our seat numbers, it was so hot I couldn’t breath under my mask, Covid regulations were not observed. I will never again and that stupid “Sam” guy too arrogant 🤮
Greyhound bus that I used did not get a proper service which I suspect its reason why it got stuck in the middle of the robot causing an obstruction in the road in queenstown eastern cape
