I recently booked an Intercape Mainliner from Queenstown to Cape Town, and I chose this bus specifically because the seats recline and offer good legroom. As a pregnant passenger, comfort was very important to me, and I looked forward to the ride knowing I’d be able to travel in relative ease.
Unfortunately, my experience was the opposite. I was bullied by another passenger and the bus driver, who told me I was not allowed to recline my seat. The driver even threatened to “call the office” if I didn’t comply. What shocked me most is that when I looked around, almost everyone else had their seats reclined — so why was I singled out and denied the same comfort?
I am deeply disappointed and disgusted by the bus driver’s behaviour. Not only was it unfair and inconsistent, but it also showed a complete lack of empathy — especially towards a pregnant passenger. If reclining the seat is truly “not allowed,” then why does Intercape advertise reclining seats as part of their service? And if it is allowed (which it clearly is, since others did so), then why was I treated this way?
This was an upsetting experience and has left me questioning whether I can trust Intercape again. I hope management seriously looks into how their staff handle passengers, because this kind of treatment is unacceptable.

The first bad service I've got is from the lady who was working at intercape Queenstown station she was very loud and not friendly, the bus delayed for an hour and nobody informed us about that.
The driver arrived at 8pm instead of 7pm and he drove for 6 full hours without even stopping for passengers to go releave themselves we had to ask.
And the driver was not nice at all.
