The Bus was more than an hour late ,the wipers were not working, too much loud Music played even when we ask Drivers to turn it down at least.
The experience was just bad, first we requested to produce a proof of payment even though our names were on the travelers list. We provided a screenshot showing the actual deduction. We then told our names will be taken off the list if no payment is made. The lady we spoke to at the Queenstown office was very helpful but the lady at the Mthatha office was arrogant and not helpful at all. We were the informed we should have taken the busdud screenshot after payment before logging out. This is frustrating as nowhere does it say that when making a booking and no reference number provided for the successful booking. We were eventually cleared to board after the owner's intervention. The bus was two hours late. It did not end there, the driver was speeding trying to make up time. When we got to Graafreinet we were to the bus will only stop in Cape Town even though their toilets in the bus were out of order. My wife develop a running tummy and the bus had to stop a couple of times for my wife to help herself on the roadside, how embarrassing. The driver was irritated that he had to stop for my wife to rilieve herself. Bear in mind the toilets were not working and the bus only stop in Tours river, more than 500km from Graafreinet where it last stopped for people to relieve themselves. More scary was the fact that the driver did not stop to rest all this time, disregarding to rest after the 200km or 2hrs. Really very bad experience, their employees have no customer etiquette at all. I will never book Makalala again or recommend to anyone.
The lady that helped me in Queenstown was very friendly, the drivers were also friendly. The driver of the mini bus from Beaufort west to Cape town was rude. I had more than 4 luggage bags he dropped me in Belleville to take a taxi to Atlantis and paid 50.00 instead of 55.00. My sister asked him to help us carry the bags to the taxi he said "I cannot drive and help with the bags"
